from the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Teachers (RET) Program 
 

The 2024 RET cohort was the last opportunity for this round of funding! We are currently writing another proposal so we can offer a summer research experience on the University of Oklahoma's campus in 2026.

What is a Research Experience for Teachers (RET)?

RET Preparation:
May 

Summer Experience:
June  - July 

  • Select your research project

  • Meet with faculty

  • Start learning about your topic

  • Work with faculty

  • Real, sustainable energy engineering problems in OU laboratories and field sites

  • Develop authentic, guided-inquiry learning curricula for classroom implementation

  • On-campus housing and meals provided

 stipend at the end of summer

Classroom Curricula: Fall  and Spring 

  • Follow-up workshops, curriculum implementation, classroom visits, and field trips

  • Support by OU and ECU faculty/staff throughout the year

  • Present at local, regional, and national conferences
